I don’t know about you guys but I’m a quotes fanatic!
Reading either advice or feelings so well described and poetically worded is not only a source of inspiration but also of optimism and positivety – that’s the effect quotes have on me. I could describe it as a quick high since quotes are usually short, I read them in a quick glance – screenshot – and read again if I am bored on the bus to re-gain inspiration. I’ve been doing this for years and trust me when I say that quotes may make up about 40% of my camera roll. Since ‘One shall not keep inspiring quotes only to themselves’ (bet you never heard this one), I decided to start this weekly series here on the blog in which I will share my most favorite inspiring/poetical quotes as well as my personal thoughts on it.
Forgive yourself. You don’t have to get it right all the time.
Life is not only made by victories. The magic is not in getting it right, or wrong, but in learning. -Uknown
Gladly, I can say I’ve moved pass the habit of thorough self condemnation posterior to making mistakes. It is safe to say that embracing our mistakes is one of the best and freeing things we can do. I have been so forgiving with myself over the past years
(it’s okay Yara, it’s okayyyy), to the point that sometimes I fail to acknowledge and correct my mistakes which is bad. Upon realization though, I assure to fix what’s due.
In whatever it is we decide to invest ourselves in, I believe the main aim should be to learn from the experience. Learning is an innate gift we possess as humans. Memory and critical thinking are examples of tools that help us evolve and become better. To become better we need indeed to experience the consequences of our choices, that’s the only way assertive choices can be made in the future.
Remember, it’s okay to be wrong. It’s okay to not get it right once, twice or even nth times. As long as you tap yourself at the back and look forward into doing better ‘next time’.
Tell me, are you always hard on yourself?
