I believe everyone has been enjoying the heat wave and the style changes that it allows. Being able to wear super laid-back and ”layer-less” outfits has been fun and shouldn’t be taken for granted! We’re already in July and almost half-way through Summer so making the most of its wardrobe and possibilities is somewhat a must! I have only added necessary key items to my Summer wardrobe. I like my classics but I am also aware that this season is perfect to experiment with colors and wear things I wouldn’t normally. It is all in the excuse of ‘It’s Summer, I’ll do it’. Summer style is unique. I realized that I have some ‘Style goals’ for this season and I thought it would be cool to share it with you guys!
1. Try vibrant hair colors
That was my first goal and I gladly scratched it off of the list by turning this black curly wig into a vibrant red ! I filmed the whole process (you can check it HERE ) and even though I was going for a purple, the red is all I got from my DIY experiment. I paid it no mind though. All I wanted was to look different and have a vibrant hair color so its all good. I’m really enjoying editing my pictures and seeing how the color contrasts with my skin. This is just color number one and I am already envisioning a new color for sometime soon !
2. Giving 1 chance to patterns/prints
After my minimalism awareness, changing my shopping habits and deciding to strictly direct my money to items that I would always feel like wearing, I had a natural and strong disconnection from patterned clothes. Coming from winter style where it is all about solid colors, I tend to bring the same approach to my summer wardrobe additions. I literally pay no mind to floral garments when I am in store. Weirdly enough I’ve been crushing on girls wearing flowery dresses and looking all girly-feminine-happy and bubbly haha. I like how some will pair a pink toned floral dress with a red lip for example. Fact is, there’s no other season in the year that is ‘prints-appropriate’ (in my opinion) and I’ve just been interested in seeing myself in a floral dress again reason why I mightttttt be giving floral prints 1 and only 1 chance before Summer ends. I will definitely scout vintage stores to find myself something at a much lower price because I really just want to experiment and take some pictures with it on. Any item with flowers on it would definitely have short life in my wardrobe at the end of the day so paying full price for something new won’t be an option. Anyways, you might be seeing me in a floral dress on a future post. Just stay tuned!
3. Cherish the time left with chokers
How many of you think chokers stand a chance of being relevant after this Summer? I am not so sure. One thing I know is that this accessory will have no chance of seeing the daylight on my neck during Fall/Winter because I am all about wearing my high neck jumpers at that time of the year. Therefore I am going to cherish it a lot this season. I own two gold toned ones and I am tempted to get a silver one (a cheap one). I like chokers paired with off-the-shoulders tops/dressed. I think it really compliments any woman’s collar area.
4 . A new pair of colored heels
Majority of my heels are black. Besides the mules I am wearing here, I own this pair of blue stilettos. Adding a pair of pink heels to my collection has been on my mind after coming across good candidates on Asos and Ebay. I believe that pastel pink will always be in style and I it can be considered a neutral color at this point. I wouldn’t go for pink stilettos though, I would definitely opt for high heeled sandals just to spice up a black-n-white, casual or even formal outfit. If I buy them I will share it here on an outfit.
5. Replace or completely ditch bras
Let me start by saying that I did not wear bras during Fall/Winter/Spring. If nipples are the problem, it was easily fixed by wearing a jumper and a coat. Reason why when the heat started kicking in and I found myself having to wear only a single thin layer such as a t-shirt I would literally think ‘I have to wear a bra…gosh I hate Summer’. What a horrible thought right? Poor Summer! It is only here for a while. I feel super comfortable not wearing a bra under a jumper and a coat but the same can’t be said about a thin t-shirt. The solution for my problem for this season – and pretty much forever since I really don’t like bras anymore- is to replace the annoying underwired bras for the soft and delicate bralettes. I have tried cotton bralettes and I happy with them. Now I just ordered some lace ones and I hope they can give me an even greater feeling of being bra-less which is how I feel the most comfortable.
What about you? How have you experimented with your style this Summer and what are you still ought to buy/try?
Let me know on the comments!
